Guardian Home Info

Our Guardian Program allows our highest-quality breeding dogs to live full, happy, normal family lives while still being part of the Willow and Rose Doodles legacy.

We take great pride in our program; placing our doodles in trusted, stable homes that can offer structure, affection, and reliability is our priority. Guardians become extended family to us. We are selective because we want every dog to thrive.

Who Does Well in This Program?

This program works best for families who:
⭐ Are reliable communicators
⭐ Can follow directions from our reproductive team
⭐ Are steady and emotionally calm around dogs
⭐ Respect boundaries and contracts
⭐ Enjoy being part of something meaningful

If you are very anxious or easily overwhelmed, this may not be the best fit — our girls sense stress, and their homes must feel safe and peaceful.

What Does the Guardian Provide?

Guardians handle the normal life needs of a pet:

  • Food and nutrition

  • Routine vet care and vaccines

  • Grooming

  • Safety, affection, and supervision

If the dog becomes ill or injured while in your care, you are responsible for veterinary costs, just as you would be with any pet.

We cover everything related to breeding.

Do I Have to Buy the Dog?

No. Guardians receive a top-quality dog at no purchase price. These dogs typically cost $3,000–$5,000+ if purchased outright.

Your “compensation” is the dog itself and the privilege of raising her/him as part of your family from the very beginning.

How Does Breeding Work?

Communication is key.

When the female starts her heat, you notify us immediately. We give very clear instructions on what to watch for.

Travel is flexible.

We are willing to:
✔ Pick up or meet halfway
✔ Travel to you for certain breedings
✔ Coordinate drop-off/pick-up as needed

We will always work with our guardian families. The goal is success for everyone.

After breeding

She returns home and continues her normal life until her due date approaches. She then comes back to us for whelping and raising her puppies. Once puppies are weaned, she returns to her guardian family.

All reproductive veterinary costs:
✔ progesterone testing
✔ stud fees
✔ insemination
✔ ultrasounds
✔ whelping support

…are covered by us.

Do We Breed Every Heat? Do We Skip?

We use modern reproductive veterinary guidelines, not outdated assumptions.

✔ We often breed back-to-back because hormonally, it is healthier for many females.

✔ However, we may also choose to skip a cycle if:

  • The female needs a rest

  • Travel is complicated

  • Timing isn’t ideal

  • Her body condition suggests a break

  • Our reproductive veterinarian recommends it

  • Life happens

Breeding decisions are made thoughtfully, case-by-case, with both science and welfare in mind.

We are flexible, realistic, and we always put the dog first.

Common Challenges in Guardian Homes

1. Guardians feel “done” early

A family may decide after 1–2 litters that they don’t want her bred again. If this happens, emotions sometimes drive decisions. Our contract is clear:

➡️ We make breeding decisions — always based on welfare, veterinary guidance, and genetics.

Not emotion.

2. Safety is non-negotiable

Loose dogs, frequent escapes, or lack of supervision may result in us reclaiming the dog.

3. Missed heat cycles

We track cycles carefully and will help you understand what to expect. Communication is essential.

4. Differing veterinary opinions

We respect your veterinarian for normal pet care.

For breeding decisions, our reproductive veterinarian’s guidance is the one we follow. This ensures consistency, success, and health.

Bottom Line

We make breeding decisions thoughtfully, collaboratively, and always with the dog’s best interest in mind.

We are flexible.
We travel if needed.
We communicate clearly.
We want this to be a joyful partnership.

If you join our Guardian Program, you receive:
🐾 A top-quality dog at no purchase cost.
🐾 The opportunity to be part of something meaningful.
🐾 Support, friendship, and ongoing connection.
🐾 A forever family member once retired.

If this sounds like a good fit, we would love to talk further!
